What did you learn from 2020?

As we officially adios one of the most interesting years in human history, it’s a fantastic opportunity to look back and reflect on what we can learn from it.

I’ve spoken to many people over the past 9 months, who have all come to different realisations about themselves and their attitude towards life and work.

Here are a few great examples…

“I thought it would be really difficult to work remotely, but I’m really enjoying it!”

“I always thought I would love to work remotely. But I really miss the office vibe and prefer to keep my work and home life separate.”

“I got to spend more time with my family than I have in years. It felt like I got to know them again.”

“I didn’t know I was in a state of depression until I realised I didn’t want to go out at all. Then I realised I had to do something about it. When it strikes next time, I’m definitely going to recognise it faster.”

“Managing a team remotely was like trying to herd wild cats. I’ve never been so stressed, but I know it’s something I need to work on.”

“I discovered new ways to trust my team that I didn’t think I was capable of before. I think it’s made us closer.”

Do any of these resonate with you? Did you learn something about yourself in working from home, managing a remote team, or having to think strategically during a crisis?

If you haven’t asked yourself any of these questions, take a moment to reflect on them before the end of January while 2020 is still fresh in the mind.

You could:

  • consider what you did and didn’t enjoy
  • celebrate what you did well
  • examine where you feel you need to improve
  • contemplate how to bring your insights into the new year
